The background is the giveaway
Cluttered rooms, office walls, cars and passers-by quietly make a photo look casual. The classic professional headshot uses a soft grey or neutral backdrop — which is exactly the part you can add afterwards. Cut yourself out of the original snapshot and place the cutout on a plain light grey, white or muted colour background; because the AI preserves hair edges, the composite reads as genuine.
A quick checklist
Work from the largest, sharpest photo you have — a friend's snapshot in good daylight beats a webcam crop. Face the light, keep the camera at eye level, and leave a little headroom. Then: remove the background, set a neutral colour, export the square, and let the photo do the talking.
